Avocados have come to be known as a popular super food, which is not surprising given their many health benefits.
In one 3.5 ounce serving of avocados large percentages of nutrients such as vitamin K, folate, vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B5, vitamin B6 and vitamin E are present. Also packed into this super food is 2 grams of protein, 15 grams of healthy fats and no sodium or cholesterol content. Avocados also have more potassium than a banana, containing 14% of the recommended daily amount. 77% of the calories from an avocado comes from a fat called oleic acid. Monounsaturated oleic acid is also found in olive oil and the acid has been linked to reduced inflammation and helps to ward off cancerous cells.
Avocados can also help reduce cholesterol levels significantly, reduce blood triglycerides, lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), and increase HDL (good cholesterol).
While avocados have higher calorie content than other foods, its benefits far outweigh the negative. Think of avocados as the good type of fat!

Healthy body, healthy mind, happy soul.
