Rest is essential for physical health so the body is able to rebuild and recharge itself adequately. Many philosophers will tell you rest is essential for your mind, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Ovid, a Roman poet. Many religious leaders also say that rest is essential for the soul. Religions such as Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bah’ai and Wiccan all teach the importance of setting aside a period of time for rest. Physicians, athletes, philosophers, poets, religious leaders and corporate leaders all stress the same concept: take time to rest each week. People today live hectic lives and often don’t even have 5 minutes to spend for themselves, but this hectic pace is causing damage in our lives. We are ruining our quality of life and destroying our mind, body and soul. By reclaiming the practice of resting one day a week, your body will benefit by being healthier, having less stress, deeper relationships, balance, and increased production. This week set aside one day a week, possibly Sundays to refuel and recheck your mind so you can take on the next upcoming week.
Healthy body, healthy mind, happy soul !
